Kenya ni Wajibu Wangu Roadshow

At the beginning of 2010, the Kenya Burning exhibition was part of a 'Kenya Ni Wajibu Wangu' roadshow, which included:

Hearstrings satirical / comedy theatre and Seed Institute's 'politically conscious' music. For the roadshow, the exhibition was mounted on a 40 foot container truck that was able to carry 11 panels of photographs. Although the exhibition had to be trimmed down, the photos selected were effective and informative, giving the audience a clear picture of the events that took place during and after the General elections held in Kenya in 2008.

The Exhibition has also includes harrowing photos on the death and brutal murders of common wananchi. These particular set of photos were displayed in a tent next to the truck, to give viewers ample warning that the pictures are disturbing, giving them a choice of viewing the disturbing pictures. As is charectaristic of the exhibitions, comments from common mwananchi were collected, where people aired their views freely.

Video documentaries were viewed in a separate tent, all on the post election violence aftermath. Moderated conversations were held with viewers, were the moderator was tasked to steer the conversations around peace building and reconciliation.

With all the emotions and trauma these photos and videos draw out, the GoDown also has a tent where people can get counseling services.
