Kenya Burning Exhibition

“Kenya Burning” is a photographic exhibition of images captured by amateur and professional photographers during the post-election violence of 2007/8.

This exhibition provides an opportunity for the audience to remember and reflect on the tragic post-election events of 2008 and reinforce sentiments already strongly expressed by ordinary citizens across the country that this should never happen again. This exhibition was first launched at the GoDown in April 2008.

Subsequent exhibitions have been held in Nairobi, Eldoret, Mombasa, Kisumu and Zanzibar. The exhibition was also part of the “Kenya Ni Wajibu Wangu” roadshow of 2010 that traversed the Rift Valley and Eastern Provinces of Kenya. There is also a photo-book based on the exhibition that is available in selected bookshops around Nairobi. The contributing photographers to this exhibition were: Yasuyoshi Chiba, Allan Gichigi, Georgina Goodwin, Anne Holmes, Charles Kimani, Arno Kopecky, Thomas Mukoya, Boniface Mwangi and Tom Otieno.
